There are two options for teaching in the program:

Seattle Teacher Residency – Elementary Education Program
In this 5-quarter graduate program, residents are prepared to teach at the elementary level in a general-ed SPS classroom and work towards a second endorsement in either Special Education or ELL. Residents spend the school year co-teaching with a mentor in a SPS classroom while taking coursework at the University of Washington. This is a full-time program and is meant for people who wish to teach at the K-5 level.

Seattle Teacher Residency – Special Education Program
This program, which builds on the Elementary program, begins with a 2 week Special Education intensive and prepares residents to teach in Special Education (high incidence) at the Elementary level in SPS schools. These residents will be dual endorsed in Elementary Education and Special Education-General and will spend their practicum co-teaching in various Special Education classrooms while also learning to teach at the Elementary school level. This 5-quarter program is meant for people who wish to be Special Education teachers (general) at the Elementary school level.
